Spes Beaten in Novara, but Wins Additional Set
Spes Conegliano loses out in the friendly match against Novara after three close sets. Things got better during the additional fourth set coaches decided to play.
Another friendly match for the girls coached by Dragan Nesic. The team went playing against Novara without the young Giada Benazzi and Linda Martinuzzo, the latter recovering from an injury. Spes' opponent was home team Asystel Novara, coached by Giovanni Caprara. The match has been very close all the way in, from the first to the last point. All three sets were decided in the very end, where even tiny details became crucial. Each of the three sets was lost for Conegliano by only two points difference. Best scorer of the match was Croatian player Katarina Barun with 21 points scored.
At the end of the friendly match, coaches decided to play an additional set, the only one not fought to the very last point, and the only one Conegliano eventually gained . The “Panthers” won it with an easy 25-18.
Obviously, after the match coach Nesic said he was not really satisfied. Nevertheless, he draw the attention to some positive sides of these series of preseasonal matches: “We have to work a lot, otherwise we will not be able to gain the ideal shape before the oficial tournament begins. I must say though, this defeats can help us a lot. They make us see which things we need to improve if we want to achieve our goals.”
