Spes Challenges European Champions
Sunday, at 18.00, Zoppas Arena will host the big match Spes Conegliano vs. Norda Foppapedretti Bergamo, also live on Sportube.tv and on radio ZonaVolley Set x Set.
Conegliano vs. Bergamo is a classic of the Italian A1 Division first round. It is the third year in a row, every year since Spes got to A1, that the two play the season opening match. In the four matches played in the past, the “Panthers” gained four points, all of them in front of Zoppas Arena's home crowd. The new coach Dragan Nesic is up for challenging one of the strongest team of the League, whose top players are going to be very tired though, due to their commitment to the National Team during the World Championships. A good combination of elements will make this opening match at the Zoppas Arena one of the most intriguing and unpredictable ones, as President Giovanni Lucchetta explained during the live web press conference: “We have more than two thousands people who already confirmed their presence in the stands. Though I expect all seats to be sold out by the start of the match.” The match will be broadcasted live on Sportube.tv as well as on Blu Radio Veneto.
The live web press conference has been also the opportunity to unveil the latest arrival in the Spes team, player Dragana Marinkovic: “I already like Conegliano. I go on well with the coach and my teammates. Now we face a very strong opponent, but it would be stupid to enter the match thinking we'll lose. We must believe we can make it, and give it all for a victory.”
“Certainly there is no need to introduce Bergamo – confirmed coach Dragan Nesic – since this team is packed full with great stars with the highest objectives. However, on the other side of the net, they will find a very determined Spes, carrying big hopes and wanting to give everything against such a big team. I don't believe Bergamo will use its youngsters, giving rest to its the strongest players. I think all the top ones will be right on court, hence I am preparing my team for it. All in all, I must be honest: I want the likes of Lo Bianco, Piccinini and the others to play, because I want to face Bergamo at its best. In any case, it is going to be a tough match, and we will give all we've got to win this one.”
First match live on the Web
Volleyball's presence in the media is growing. Mainly on the Web, the preferred communication channel for volleyball lovers in general. One of the most interesting facts of the first round of this 2010/11 season is the debut of Sportube.tv in the A1 league. The channel, which already covered the ale World Championships in September and October, picked Conegliano for its first live match of the Season. Sportube will broadcast two live matches in every league round.
